Chilean Embassy in Berlin Presents: Mara Santibáñez’s Poetic Landscapes
From roadside shrines to bursts of wildflowers, the Chilean artist paints a poetic portrait of everyday places often overlooked
August 13th, 2025Berlin welcomes Carretera: Paisaje Lejano, an exhibition by Chilean painter and academic Mara Santibáñez, whose work captures the quiet beauty of contemporary landscapes. Hosted at GELBE TONNE from August 15 to 29, 2025, the show invites visitors into a world shaped by Chile’s familiar yet often unnoticed roadsides.
Santibáñez draws inspiration from humble scenes: small kiosks, makeshift shrines, fields edged with untamed flowers. Rendered with honesty and simplicity, these landscapes resonate with a shared identity—fragments of memory that connect people to their surroundings in ways that are intimate yet universal.
The exhibition opens on August 15 at 7 p.m., offering Berlin audiences a first look at her evocative canvases. Visitors can explore the works from Tuesday to Sunday, between 3 p.m. and 7 p.m., until August 29.
Supported by the Chilean Government through the FONDART programme, Carretera: Paisaje Lejano continues a tradition of bringing Chilean artistic voices to an international stage. It offers not just a view of distant roads, but a journey into the subtle textures of place and belonging.
