From June 16th to 18th, 2025, Technische Universität Berlin hosted the 2nd Chile–Germany Academic Forum, a flagship event bringing together researchers, academics, and university leaders from both countries. This interdisciplinary forum focused on forging collaborative solutions to pressing global challenges—especially climate change and sustainable development.

The forum featured seven thematic working groups addressing topics ranging from the green energy transition and urban resilience to global health and artificial intelligence. Over three days, Chilean and German experts shared research insights, exchanged best practices, and explored innovative policies across academia and public sectors.

The program included discussions on renewable energy systems, green hydrogen, and resource management under the “Energy and Resources for the Green

Transition” track, co-led by the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. Another key theme was “Livable Cities,” which examined resilient architecture and urban planning to confront climate change impacts in both nations.

According to organizers, the forum builds on its inaugural edition in Santiago, 2023, and symbolizes the deepening academic ties between Chile and Germany. It fosters an ongoing exchange of scientific knowledge that supports environmental sustainability and social justice. With participation from seven universities—including TU Berlin, Universidad de Chile, and Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile—the event exemplifies collaborative innovation rooted in shared values.

The Chile–Germany Academic Forum highlights Berlin’s role as a hub for international dialogue and cooperation. Beyond academia, it signals a model for transnational partnerships that address urgent planetary challenges through multidisciplinary research and education.

The event was open to scholars, students, and policy practitioners, emphasizing inclusive knowledge exchange and the promotion of sustainable solutions. The success of this edition paves the way for future initiatives aimed at strengthening Latin American–European academic and scientific relations.
