On April 17th, from 12:00 to 17:00 the Kirschblütenfest, the Cherry Blossom Festival will be held. It's the 10th anniversary of this event that takes place in the Gärten der Welt, the “Gardens of the World”, more precisely on the Japanese Garden, the “Seoul” Korean Garden and the Chinese Garden.

This event celebrates the blossoming of the cherry trees, but the amazing pink view won't be the only thing to enjoy there. There will be a lot of attractions connected with Asian traditions, open to everyone who would like to join in. The program is open to young and old, and will last the whole day. There will be the artist “Mimi” doing a colorful stilt-walking act, with traditional clothes, and a dragon flute melody. There will be also a calligraphy and musical number from the Sakura Club – a performance of traditional ink painting, with animation and modern music. Another attraction will be the shows of martial arts done by specialized sport clubs that invites those interested to experiment. For the younger ones, a highlight might be the craft of Asian masks and drums at the Chinese Garden.

The Cherry Blossom Festival is also known for having several “cosplayers.” This guests walk around the gardens, dressed in self-made traditional costumes, open to everyone who would like to take a picture with them. This year, there will be the “cosplayer” competition, in which the most beautiful and authentic costume is presented and awarded. Finally, the participants can expect numerous Asian food stalls, to experience the typical gastronomy, from salty to sweet.

The “Gardens of the World” are located at Eisenacher Str. 99, 12685 Berlin. To get there one can go by S-Bahn, using the S7 and getting off at the Marzahn Station; or the bus, with the number 195; or the U-Bahn, by the U5 and getting off at the Hellersdorf Station.
