"Cervantes en Taberna de los Tudescos" or Cervantes in German Tavern is the name of the play organized by the Spanish Embassy in Germany and the Instituto Cervantes in Berlin. The play is suitable for kids, school groups and apprentices of Spanish who whish to learn about the writer's history, creating an intercultural dialogue through theater. Nowadays, the institute Cervantes is the most important organization when it comes to Spanish-speaker culture as it equally promotes the Latin American culture.

The play forms the commemoration of the IV Centenary of Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra. Fénix Teatro, the Spanish theater company established in Berlin, showcases the representation of a young audience. The story attempts to explain the writer's career through theater. It takes place in one of the most classic pubs in Madrid, The German Tavern, where Cervante's daughter invites the public to remember his father. A glance into some of his masterpieces, life experiences and time allows the audience to know the most human and unknown singularities of the author of Don Quixote.

The play has already taken place twice in Berlin and received great feedback from the audience. It has become a precious example of how to bring people together though culture and art. In other terms, broadcasting knowledge from other cultures, using performance art as the result of international collaboration, is the ideal use of cultural diplomacy.
