Celebration for 100th anniversary of Diplomatic Service of Azerbaijan

The celebration aimed at exploring and remembering the successful 100 years of the Azer-baijani diplomatic mission. A different range of speakers were invited to the Berlin Hum-boldt University for the event.

The celebration of the 100th anniversary of the diplomatic service operated by Azerbaijan was held, on the 9th of July, at the Berlin Humboldt University. As a matter of fact, Azerbaijan began its diplomatic mission on July 9, 1919, following Azerbaijan establishing itself as a republic.

A wide range of speakers took part to the event, among which H.E. Mr. Ramin Hasanov, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to the Federal Republic of Germany, Prof. Dr. Eva-Maria Auch, the responsible person for the Azerbaijan History Department at Humboldt University, and Ms. Monika Leonhardt, deputy head of the South Caucasus and Central Asia Department of German Federal Foreign Office. All the speakers illustrated to the participants the history of Azerbaijani diplomacy, going back to the Middle Ages. Throughout the event, common views of bilateral relationships between Azerbaijan and Germany were also expressed, along with a statement made by the Ambassador, concerning the importance of Germany as one of the principal European partners of Azerbaijan. Overall, such celebration aimed at looking back on the past in order to highlight the hopes of the future of the country, namely one characterised by cooperation and closer relations with European partners.
