Indian Embassy in Berlin, together with The Tagore Center Berlin, is organizing a special event, a Hindustani vocal concert, to celebrate the famous Indian poet and musician, Rabindranath Tagore. The invited artists are expected to perform compositions of love, longing and union, themes that are present in Tagore works as well.

Tagore is considered the most important writer in modern Indian literature, reshaping Bengali literature and music, as well as Indian art, becoming in 1913 the first European to win the Nobel Prize for literature. At a time of change in Europe and in the world, Tagore presented himself as a humanist and internationalist, addressing in his poetry both political and personal affairs. In order to raise awareness of Tagore life and work, the Embassy of India is inviting the public to an evening of music and celebration.

The artists, Nirali Kartik, Santosh Ghante and Amit Mishra will perform a Hindustani classical concert. The music is traditional for the Norther Region of the Indian Subcontinent, but the vocal artist, Nirali Kartik, is recognized for her beautiful way of being a loyal representative of the venerable tradition of Indian classical music, while making it relatable to the contemporary listeners. Bringing traditional aspects of Indian culture into Berlin, is a great way to celebrate the life and work of Tagore.
