On the occasion of Chile’s National Day celebrations, the Chilean Ambassador to Austria, Alex Wetzig, took part in the inauguration of the Fonda Chilena 2025, an event organized by the Chilean Community in Austria. The celebration brought together a large number of Chilean residents and friends of Chile in Vienna to honor the country’s rich culture, traditions and national identity.

During his remarks, Ambassador Wetzig expressed his sincere gratitude to the Chilean Community in Austria and its President, Cristina Musa, for their dedication and hard work in organizing the event. He emphasized the importance of such initiatives in preserving cultural heritage abroad and fostering a sense of belonging among Chileans living far from home.

“Each year, as we celebrate our Fiestas Patrias, we remember the beginning of our life as an independent nation and the long path we have traveled since then,” said Ambassador Wetzig. “Chile is a country built by looking toward the future, with the conviction that its destiny is shaped through work, hope, and unity.”

The Fonda Chilena 2025 featured traditional music, dance and cuisine, creating a vibrant atmosphere reminiscent of the national festivities held across Chile. Events like this not only strengthen the bonds within the Chilean diaspora but also promote intercultural dialogue and showcase the enduring spirit of Chilean identity abroad.

Through this celebration, the Embassy of Chile in Austria and the Chilean Community reaffirm their commitment to cultural exchange, community engagement and the preservation of national traditions.
