Celebrating African Women's Day: Unity, Education, and Empowerment in Berlin
Diplomats emphasize education and gender equality in Africa at Angolan Embassy's ceremony
August 19th, 2024On August 2, 2024, in Berlin, the Angolan Embassy in Germany hosted a celebration for African Women's Day, attended by numerous African Ambassadors and other dignitaries. The Cameroonian delegation was led by Ambassador Victor Ndocki, who was joined by his colleagues.
Her Excellency Ms. Dias Da Silva discussed the origins of African Women's Day, focusing on the challenges faced by women and girls in Africa, such as child marriage and lack of education. She emphasized the importance of education for economic development and human rights.
A panel of speakers, including ambassadors and experts, addressed issues such as the need for free and accessible education, the challenges of female illiteracy, and successful efforts in Rwanda to empower women through education and legislative reforms. The event concluded with a traditional fashion show and a presentation of African culinary diversity.
