Celebrating 75 Years of Maison de France at Institute Français Berlin
Curated programming continues with “Best Before” exhibition and seminar on endometriosis awareness
July 14th, 2025As part of the year-long celebration marking the 75th anniversary of the Maison de France on Kurfürstendamm, the Institut français Berlin continues its cultural program this week: featuring the open exhibition “Best Before” by Valentin Vert, and a public think-in seminar titled “Endo Violence Think‑in” on Wednesday, July 16.
The “Best Before” exhibition, which opened on June 27 and runs until January 11, 2026, is displayed in the Institut's window showcases (Les Vitrines) and presents a sequence of introspective, time-themed works by graphic novelist and illustrator Valentin Vert.
On July 16 (18:00–20:00) in the Galerie Alice Guy, the “Endo Violence Think‑in” convenes researchers, patient-activists, and community leaders to discuss endo-violence—a term defining systemic injustices surrounding endometriosis. Co-curated by the Endo Violence Collective, Endometriosis Academy, and the University of Leeds, the seminar is led by Dr. Alicja Pawluczuk (aka HYSTERA) and reflects the Institut’s commitment to intersectional, health-focused cultural discourse.
These events echo the Institut français’s role in promoting a vibrant Franco-German cultural dialogue. As part of the anniversary, the Maison de France is not only revisited architecturally and historically but is also revitalized as a living platform for debate, critical reflection, and community across art, health, and society.
