The Career Fair 2026, held from 26 to 28 February at the Deutsche Höhere Privatschule (DHPS) Windhoek, marks another milestone in Namibia’s efforts to provide young people with comprehensive educational and professional guidance. Organized collaboratively by DHPS, the Goethe-Institut Namibia, the PASCH network, and supported by the German Embassy in Windhoek, the fair offers students, graduates, and career changers a unique platform to explore diverse opportunities both locally and internationally. With a focus on personal engagement, practical insights, and cross-industry perspectives, the event exemplifies the growing partnership between Namibia and Germany in education and career development.

Over three days at the DHPS campus and subsequent roadshows at PASCH schools across Otjiwarongo, Tsumeb, and Swakopmund, nearly 50 exhibitors from Namibia, South Africa, and Germany showcased career pathways, internships, and study programs. The fair has evolved into one of Namibia’s largest interactive career events, providing attendees with access to professionals, universities, and organizations in a hands-on format that cannot be replicated online. Participants were able to engage directly with experts, gaining practical insights into requirements, career paths, and opportunities abroad.

Germany played a pivotal role in Career Fair 2026, offering specialized support and guidance. The German Embassy in Windhoek provided on-site consultations regarding legal and visa requirements for studying and working in Germany. Furthermore, the Goethe-Institut Namibia emphasized the strategic value of German language proficiency, highlighting how German skills serve as a gateway to international education, particularly within the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland), and enhancing career prospects locally in tourism, industry, and dual education programs.

The collaboration also underscored the broader educational mission of Germany in Namibia. As Matthias Mühr, Vice Director of the Goethe-Institut Namibia, stated, the fair aims to open new horizons for Namibian youth by promoting cross-cultural exchange and dual study opportunities in Germany. Complementing this, DHPS continues to integrate German educational standards, from the Kinder Campus through the German International Abitur, ensuring that students not only acquire academic knowledge but also develop skills that are globally recognized.

Finally, Career Fair 2026 demonstrated the enduring value of personal engagement in career planning. Organizers, including DHPS and the German partners, provided an inclusive and welcoming environment, free of charge, where learners, graduates, parents, and career changers could explore opportunities. The fair highlighted Germany’s ongoing commitment to fostering educational collaboration, facilitating international mobility, and supporting the development of Namibia’s youth through structured guidance, language education, and direct access to global career pathways.
