BUA Network at the Brazilian Embassy Welcomes Over 150 Guests
Berlin’s Academic Community Gathers to Strengthen Ties and Foster International Collaboration
August 27th, 2024On June 26, 2024, the Brazilian Embassy in Berlin hosted a vibrant networking event organized by the Berlin University Alliance (BUA). The event brought together over 150 guests, including students, researchers, and scholars with connections to Brazil. This reception, the third of its kind, follows the success of last year’s meeting and reflects the growing collaboration between Berlin's top universities and their Brazilian counterparts.
The evening began with a welcoming speech from Jeremias Martins Neto, Head of Science, Technology & Innovation and Cooperation at the Brazilian Embassy. Attendees enjoyed a Brazilian buffet and cool drinks while engaging in cross-disciplinary conversations. The gathering provided a unique platform for exchanging ideas and fostering academic partnerships.
Representatives from key academic organizations, including the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, the German Academic Exchange Service, and the German Research Foundation, were on hand to offer guidance at information booths. The presence of the Network of Brazilian Researchers in Germany (Apoena) also highlighted the strong ties between the German and Brazilian academic communities.
The Berlin University Alliance, which includes Freie Universität Berlin, Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, Technische Universität Berlin, and Charité - Universitätsmedizin Berlin, continues to strengthen its connections with Brazilian institutions. These universities are committed to enhancing the visibility of their joint collaborations and creating new networking opportunities for scholars in Berlin. All four institutions are active supporters of the German House of Science and Innovation (DWIH) São Paulo. Freie Universität has maintained a liaison office in Brazil since 2010, located at the DWIH. Technische Universität became an associate supporter in 2018, followed by Humboldt-Universität in 2022.
The event underscored the ongoing commitment of these institutions to fostering international cooperation and advancing research partnerships between Germany and Brazil.
