Berlin–Conakry Dialogue Advances Health Cooperation Between Guinea and Germany

Embassy meeting promotes medical partnerships and support for Guinea’s healthcare development

On 27 January 2026, the Embassy of the Republic of Guinea in Berlin hosted a meeting aimed at strengthening cooperation in the health sector between Guinea and Germany. Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary H.E. Aliou Barry, accompanied by the Minister Counselor and the Second Socio-Cultural Counselor, received a delegation from the German NGO Medical Aid for Africa as part of ongoing efforts to mobilize international partners in support of Guinea’s social and economic development.

The delegation, introduced by the organization’s President, Dr. Boubacar Diallo, included representatives of the NGO, among them Vice President Dr. Ruppert Burkhard. During the discussions, Dr. Diallo presented the missions and objectives of Medical Aid for Africa, emphasizing the organization’s commitment to strengthening cooperation between the Republic of Guinea and the Federal Republic of Germany, particularly through initiatives supporting healthcare development.

Medical Aid for Africa brings together several private physicians based in Germany who seek to contribute their expertise to medical cooperation projects on the African continent. The exchange highlighted opportunities for collaboration in areas such as medical support, professional exchange, and capacity-building initiatives aligned with Guinea’s healthcare priorities.

In his remarks, Ambassador Aliou Barry welcomed the initiative as an important example of civic engagement and international solidarity in support of Guinea’s development. He reiterated the Embassy’s readiness to facilitate cooperation and expressed his full support for the NGO’s activities, stressing the importance of ensuring that future projects respond effectively to national health needs and strategic priorities.

The meeting underscored the shared commitment of diplomatic and civil society actors to advancing practical partnerships in the health sector. By fostering dialogue between Guinean institutions and German medical professionals, the initiative contributes to strengthening bilateral cooperation while supporting sustainable improvements in healthcare services in Guinea.
