On November 4, 2025, the Embassy of Mexico in Germany will host the tenth edition of the Mexican Science Day, as part of Berlin Science Week. This year’s theme, “Science Connects: Mexico & Germany – Beyond Now,” sets the tone for a day dedicated to innovation, collaboration, and the role of science as a cultural bridge between nations.

Jointly organized with the German Federal Ministry of Research, Technology and Space (BMFTR), this edition marks the first institutional partnership between both entities, symbolizing the growing importance of scientific diplomacy as part of broader cultural diplomacy. By promoting knowledge exchange, education, and technological cooperation, the event highlights how science can act as a tool for mutual understanding and sustainable development.

The concept of “Beyond Now” invites participants to think beyond immediate challenges and to imagine inclusive and resilient futures. For Mexico and Germany, two nations with strong scientific traditions and a shared commitment to international cooperation, the Mexican Science Day is not only an academic encounter but also a celebration of how ideas travel, evolve, and connect societies.

The program will open with discussions on artificial intelligence (AI) as a crosscutting theme in science, communication, and art, culminating in a live performance by German artist Gesine Born, exploring the intersection of creativity and machine intelligence. The second part of the event will focus on bilateral scientific cooperation, featuring panel discussions between Mexican and German experts on opportunities, challenges, and strategies to align national research and innovation agendas with global priorities.

A highlight of the day is the Science Slam, where six early-career scientists will present proposals for thematic workshops in Mexico. The top three winners will receive financial support from the BMFTR to carry out their projects, strengthening ties between the two countries and supporting the next generation of researchers.

More than a scientific event, the Mexican Science Day is a reflection of how science itself is a form of culture—a space where knowledge becomes dialogue and collaboration becomes diplomacy. By connecting research, creativity, and cultural exchange, Mexico and Germany reaffirm their belief that science is not only about discovery, but about connection—a shared effort to build understanding and inspire progress beyond now.
