Berlin Celebrates The City of Timisoara

The Romanian Embassy organized an event dedicated to the former European Capital of Culture

In extension of the support given to the program "Timisoara - European Cultural Capital 2023", the Romanian Embassy in Berlin held a festive evening dedicated to the city of Timisoara on July 3rd, 2024.

The evening brought together representatives of cultural and institutional environments in Berlin, traditional partners of the Embassy, members of the local media, the Romanian diaspora, and the community of ethnic Germans originating from Romania.

Romanian Ambassador Adriana Stănescu opened the event by highlighting the opportunities Timișoara gained from being the European Capital of Culture 2023. She spoke about how the city invested in building cultural infrastructure and organizing a dense agenda of cultural and community events. 

Timisoara mayor Dominic Fritz outlined Timișoara's progress through culture, diversity education, and investments in innovation and social entrepreneurship. He noted foreign investments, particularly from Germany, which have made Timișoara a technology and innovation hub.

The event concluded with a presentation on Timosiara’s potential as a travel destination by Simion Giurcă from the Association for the Management of the Timișoara.

The evening featured a concert by Horia Crișovan & Band and a culinary experience from the Culinaria Banatica program.

The event was supported by ICR Berlin, Timișoara City Hall, the Timișoara Tourist Destination Management Association, the Horetim Employers' Association, and the Culinaria Banatica program.
