The Ambassador
H.E. Mr. Angelo Dan
H.E. Mr. Angelo Dan is the Ambassador, Deputy Permanent Representative and Chargé d’Affaires a.i. of the Republic of Benin to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva. A senior Beninese diplomat and specialist in multilateral diplomacy, he has represented Benin in Geneva-based international forums and contributes to the country’s engagement within the United Nations system.
Mr. Dan is a graduate of the École Nationale d’Administration (ENA) of France and the Geneva Graduate Institute in Switzerland. His academic and professional background has focused on international affairs and multilateral cooperation, supporting his work in diplomatic representation and negotiations within international organizations.
History
Benin became a member of the United Nations on 20 September 1960, shortly after gaining independence. Since joining the UN, Benin has participated actively in multilateral diplomacy, with engagement focused on international peace and security, sustainable development, human rights, democracy, governance, and cooperation within Africa and beyond. Benin has contributed to UN discussions on development priorities and has participated in various UN bodies and international initiatives addressing global challenges.
The Permanent Mission of the Republic of Benin to the United Nations Office and other International Organizations in Geneva represents Benin in Geneva-based UN institutions and international organizations. The Mission engages on issues including human rights, humanitarian affairs, health, labour, trade, development, and other areas covered by the Geneva multilateral system. Through its diplomatic activities, the Mission advances Benin’s positions in international negotiations and supports cooperation with Geneva-based organizations, including UN agencies and specialized institutions.
