On Monday, 20th May 2024, Bangali New Year 1431 was celebrated at the premises of the Bangladesh Embassy and Permanent Mission in Vienna, Austria in a colorful and festive atmosphere.

Responding to the embassy's invitation, a large number of expatriate Bangladeshis, including community leaders, professionals, students, and journalists residing in Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, and Slovakia, participated in this grand celebration.

The Honorable Ambassador of the Embassy, Mr. Asad Alam Siam, delivered a brief welcome speech at the event. He remarked that the Bengali New Year celebration is a universal festival for Bengalis. The Bengali community of this country carries the thousand-year-old heritage, culture, and traditions of Bengal. He called upon all expatriate Bangladeshis to be inspired by the secular spirit of Bengali nationalism and to work together in mutual harmony and brotherhood to establish Bangladesh as a prosperous and golden Bengal on the world stage.

The cultural festival saw notable participation from children and teenagers. Following the event, the embassy organized a feast featuring various traditional Bangladeshi dishes, including the quintessential hilsa fish, for the expatriate community.

On this day, the Bangladesh Embassy and Permanent Mission in Vienna were adorned with festive colors, with people dressed in pajama-panjabi and red-and-white Basanti sarees.
