Bangali New Year 1431 was celebrated at the premises of the Bangladesh Embassy and Permanent Mission in Vienna
May 24th, 2024On Monday, 20th May 2024, Bangali New Year 1431 was celebrated at the premises of the Bangladesh Embassy and Permanent Mission in Vienna, Austria in a colorful and festive atmosphere.
Responding to the embassy's invitation, a large number of expatriate Bangladeshis, including community leaders, professionals, students, and journalists residing in Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, and Slovakia, participated in this grand celebration.
The Honorable Ambassador of the Embassy, Mr. Asad Alam Siam, delivered a brief welcome speech at the event. He remarked that the Bengali New Year celebration is a universal festival for Bengalis. The Bengali community of this country carries the thousand-year-old heritage, culture, and traditions of Bengal. He called upon all expatriate Bangladeshis to be inspired by the secular spirit of Bengali nationalism and to work together in mutual harmony and brotherhood to establish Bangladesh as a prosperous and golden Bengal on the world stage.
The main attraction of the Bengali New Year 1431 celebration was a vibrant cultural program with spontaneous participation from expatriate Bangladeshis. The cultural festival saw notable participation from children and teenagers. Following the event, the embassy organized a feast featuring various traditional Bangladeshi dishes, including the quintessential hilsa fish, for the expatriate community.
On this day, the Bangladesh Embassy and Permanent Mission in Vienna were adorned with festive colors, with people dressed in pajama-panjabi and red-and-white Basanti sarees. The embassy premises became a replica of the timeless tradition of Bengal. This celebration of Bengali New Year in Europe reflected the joy and spirit of a secular Bangladesh. Expatriate Bangladeshis living in Austria, Hungary, Slovenia, and Slovakia spent the day in a completely native atmosphere.
