Award Ceremony for the Former Ambassador of Mauritania, Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Ibrahim Khalil

German President Frank-Walter Steinmeier awarded Mr. Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Ibrahim Khalil, former Ambassador of Mauritania to the Federal Republic of Germany, the Order of ‘Commander’ in the German National Merit System.

The Ambassador was awarded this high medal during a ceremony organized by the Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany to the Kingdom of Belgium on Monday, the 12th of February 2024, in Brussels.

In a speech delivered on this occasion, in the presence of the counsellors at the Mauritanian Embassy in Brussels, the German Ambassador said that the German President awarded Ambassador Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Ibrahim Akhlil this high medal as a reward for his outstanding efforts to strengthen German-Mauritanian relations and in recognition of his positive work as Dean of the African Diplomatic Corps in Berlin in the service of German-African relations.

On this occasion, Ambassador Mohamed Mahmoud Ould Ibrahim Khalil thanked the German President for honouring him with this high medal and expressed his satisfaction with the development of Mauritanian-German relations, which he said are growing steadily to serve the interests of the two countries, especially in the areas of peace, security and development.
