Austria's Music Competition “Prima La Musica” Presents Concert in Berlin
Austrian Embassy Promoting Young People's Music Concert Held at the Austrian Culture Forum Berlin
October 12th, 2015On Friday 9th October 2015, the Austrian Culture Forum will host a concert ‘Prima la Musica’. The concert is well known in Austria, it is the national music competition for young children and teenagers aged 6 to 19. The competition has different levels, first there are rounds at the state level, selecting entrants to then take onto the federal level and finally the best performers move to the national level. Next year’s competition is already underway with state rounds currently taking place.
Many famous Austrian musicians have previously taken part in the competition in their youth. Now famous participants include the pianist Ingolf Wunder, drummer Martin Grubinger and various members of the Vienna Philharmonic and Symphony Orchestra. The competition also celebrates composing as well as the playing of instruments. There is a category in which youths can enter self-composed pieces of music.
The concert in Berlin will have a number of young musicians who participated in this year’s competition performing. Musicians include, Fabian Köhring on the flute, Linus Köhring on the piano, Maxim Tzekov on violin and Lukas Sternath on the piano. The event will be directed by the head of Prima la Musica Vienna, Angelika Persterer-Ornig. The music played at the concert will be from a number of different well known composers, namely Chopin, Paganini, Bruch and also feature a self-composed piece from Linus Köhring.
