On 20 August 2025, the Austrian Embassy in Brasília, in collaboration with Universidade Positivo (UP), inaugurated the architectural exhibition “Clemens Holzmeister – Viennese Modernism in Architecture and Its Impact in Brazil”. The opening ceremony took place at the UP Library in Curitiba, offering audiences a unique opportunity to explore the legacy of one of Austria’s most renowned modernist architects and his influence beyond Europe.

The event was formally opened by Prof. Me. Roberto Tourinho Fontan, representing Universidade Positivo, alongside Dr. Stefan Scholz, Ambassador of Austria to Brazil, who underscored the cultural significance of the exhibition. Their remarks emphasized the role of architecture as a medium of cross-cultural dialogue, linking Austrian modernist traditions with Brazil’s rich architectural landscape.

The exhibition, which will run until 20 October 2025, highlights Clemens Holzmeister’s contributions to Viennese modernism and traces the ways in which his designs and aesthetic principles have inspired and resonated with Brazilian architectural developments. Visitors are invited to engage with visual materials, historical documentation, and curated narratives that connect Europe’s early 20th-century modernism to Brazil’s dynamic urban and cultural transformations.

By bringing this exhibition to Curitiba, the Austrian Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to strengthening cultural diplomacy in Brazil. The collaboration with Universidade Positivo underscored the shared mission of promoting academic exchange, artistic appreciation, and deeper ties between Austria and Brazil.

The opening ceremony not only celebrated Holzmeister’s artistic legacy but also demonstrated how architecture can serve as a bridge between nations, fostering mutual understanding and highlighting the enduring relevance of modernism in contemporary cultural discourse.
