Austrian Ambassador Visits Hesse and Meets with Interior Minister to Discuss Refugee Issues
October 12th, 2015On October 2nd 2015 His Excellency Ambassador Dr. Nikolaus Marschik visited the Federal state of Hesse, whilst there he met with the Hessian Interior Minister Peter Beuth. The two discussed the current refugee crisis facing Europe and looked for solutions to asylum issues. After the meeting, Ambassador Marschik then went to Wiesbaden, the capital of Hesse where he met with Lucia Puttrich who is the Hessian Minister for European Affairs, once again talks were dominated by the refugee crisis. The Ambassadors third meeting took place in the Hessian State Chancellery where he was able to meet with the Chairman of Germany’s European Ministerial Conference to further discuss the migration and integration of refugees.
The end of Ambassador Marschik’s working visit to Hesse was marked by a meeting at the Office of Multicultural Affairs of the city of Frankfurt where the Ambassador met with various business delegates and the President of the Austrian Society Frankfurt, Mr Andreas Wanda. Ambassador Marschik also received a tour of the newly built European Central Bank (ECB) designed by the Austrian architectural design firm Coop Himmelb(l)au. He was taken through the tour by the Chief of Protocol of the ECB, Mrs Helga Meister and the Governing Director of General Administration, Mr Werner Studener. Also on the tour was the art gallery the Städel Museum which houses one of the most important art collections in Germany.
On the following day October 3rd Ambassador Dr. Marschik and the Honorary Consul Stephan Hutter both attended the German Unity Celebrations together to mark the 25th anniversary.
