On April 29, 2025, the Embassy of India in Berlin supported a high-level workshop titled "Artificial and Human Intelligence: The Metrics Connect," bringing together Indian and German experts to discuss the ethical and strategic dimensions of artificial intelligence.

The event was held at the Wissenschaftsforum Berlin and featured keynote speakers from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), and policy representatives from both countries. The focus of the workshop was on the convergence of human-centered values with AI development, and how diplomatic collaboration can help frame future governance models for emerging technologies.

Organized under the framework of cultural and scientific diplomacy, the workshop also highlighted India’s efforts to position itself as a global hub for responsible AI innovation. The Indian Ambassador to Germany, H.E. Harish Parvathaneni, emphasized in his opening remarks the importance of Indo-German cooperation in shaping inclusive digital futures.

This initiative was part of the embassy’s broader cultural diplomacy strategy, aiming not only to promote scientific collaboration but also to foster mutual understanding through intellectual dialogue. The Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) and Germany’s Federal Foreign Office both supported the event, underscoring the intersection of science, diplomacy, and culture.

The discussions concluded with a joint statement proposing a bilateral research initiative on AI ethics, with future follow-up meetings planned for late 2025 in New Delhi and Berlin.
