On March 7, 2024, a cultural evening entitled “Symphony of Armenian Culture, Wine and Tourism” took place as part of the Berlin Economic Forum 2024. It was organized by the Embassy of the Republic of Armenia and the Academy of Cultural Diplomacy (ICD).

At the event, Ambassador Viktor Yengibaryan gave a welcoming speech in which he pointed out the tourist attractiveness of Armenia.

The international law expert Dr. Hans Jörg Schrötter and Mr. Stephan Herzer, owners of the Herzer Winery, gave speeches about Armenian culture, history and viticulture.

It was mentioned that this year is an anniversary year: the 100th birthday of the world-famous chansonnier Charles Aznavour and the famous film director Sergei Parajanov were included in the list of UNESCO jubilee people.

Representatives from politics, the public, business and culture in Germany took part in the event.

The Speech of Ambassador Viktor Yengibaryan

Ladies and gentlemen,

Distinguished guests,

It is an honour and privilege to stand before you today at Berlin Economic Forum, which is a parallel event of the ITB Berlin Travel Trade Show.

As the Ambassador of Armenia, I extend a warm welcome to all participants, industry leaders, and cultural enthusiasts gathered here to explore the convergence of tourism, investments, and the transformative power of cultural diplomacy.

The Academy for Cultural Diplomacy plays a pivotal role in fostering understanding and collaboration among nations, and I commend their efforts in organizing this event that transcends traditional boundaries. Today's event holds particular significance as we introduce tourism and rich culture that defines Europe in large, and my country Armenia as well.

Armenia, with its ancient history, diverse landscapes, and warm hospitality, is proud to contribute to the international tourism.

Cultural diplomacy, as exemplified by the Academy for Cultural Diplomacy, serves as a powerful catalyst in connecting nations and fostering mutual understanding. Armenia's cultural richness, from its majestic landscapes to the timeless traditions of our people, becomes a bridge that transcends borders and invites travellers to experience the authenticity of our heritage.

I extend my sincere gratitude to the Academy for Cultural Diplomacy for hosting this significant event. May our deliberations here contribute to a world where cultural diplomacy and tourism intertwine to create a more harmonious and interconnected global community.

Last but not least, I am delighted to introduce our distinguished speakers. Following me, we have Dr. Hans Jörg Schrötter, a German friend of Armenia and an expert in international law. He'll share fascinating stories about Armenian culture and history. Next up, we have the privilege of welcoming Mr. Stephan Herzer, the owner of 'Weingut Herzer' and a professional winemaker from Naumburg, also a great friend of my country. He'll reveal the history and secrets of winemaking in Armenia.

Now, let's dive into the next 1.5 hours. Immerse yourselves in videos showcasing the beauty of my country, enjoy the wine and have great talks.

Thank you, and I wish you all an enriching and productive experience during the Berlin Economic Forum.
