Ambassador Roberto Jaguaribe and Ambassador Anette Walter meet at the Brazil-Germany Society

The meeting assessed the results of the second meeting of High-Level Intergovernmental Consultations, held in December 2023

At the invitation of the Brazil-Germany Society (“Deutsch-Brasilianische Gesellschaft”), Brazilian Ambassador Roberto Jaguaribe and the director for Latin America and the Caribbean of the Federal Ministry of Foreign Affairs (“Auswärtiges Amt”), Ambassador Anette Walter, on Friday the 19th of April, made an optimistic assessment of the results of the second meeting of High-Level Intergovernmental Consultations, led by President Lula and Chancellor Olaf Scholz in December 2023, in Berlin.

According to the ambassadors, the meeting resulted in an extensive list of activities coordinated by the two governments in the economic-commercial, political, cooperation (including in third countries), environment, climate and health fields, in addition to laying solid foundations for raising the level of the strategic bilateral relationship.

The ambassadors also commented on the unprecedented flow of bilateral visits in 2023 and 2024, bilateral efforts to combat disinformation and defend democracy, the Brazilian presidency of the G20 and COP30, the prospects for the Mercosur-EU Association Agreement and topics on the global agenda.

The Embassy of Brazil in Berlin thanked the Brazil-Germany Society for the invitation and the German Federal Foreign Ministry for kindly hosting the event on its premises.
