Ambassador Qi Mei Participates in China (Sichuan)-Austria Economic and Trade Cooperation Forum
Highlighting Opportunities for Bilateral Trade and Investment between Sichuan and Austria
October 07th, 2024On September 19, Chinese Ambassador to Austria, Qi Mei, attended and delivered a speech at the China (Sichuan)-Austria Economic and Trade Cooperation and Exchange Conference. The event brought together an esteemed group of official and business leaders, including Pubuton Zhu, a member of the Standing Committee of the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and Vice Governor; Elena, Vice Chairman He Sheng of the Austria Federal Chamber of Commerce, Vice Chairman of the Austrian-Chinese Friendship Association; and Meng Fanzhuang, Counsellor for economic and commercial affairs at the Chinese Embassy in Austria.
In her speech, Ambassador Qi Mei highlighted the latest advancements in China-Austria relations, noting the opportunities arising from China’s current development trajectory. She emphasized that all provinces in China, including Sichuan, are actively implementing the decisions made at the Third Plenary Session of the 20th Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, which focuses on deepening comprehensive reforms, advancing institutional openness and building a more higher-level open economic system.
She also mentioned China’s continuous improvements in the system that make living more convenient for foreign residents, such as better access to residence permits, healthcare services and payment systems. Ambassador Qi Mei encouraged Austrian business leaders to benefit from the opportunities presented by this growth and deepen trade and investment ties with Sichuan. She expresses hope that this cooperation would further elevate the Sino-Austrian strategic partnership to new horizons, fostering even stronger economic and cultural ties.
During the conference, Pubuton Zhu explained the last measures being implemented by the Sichuan Provincial Party Committee and the provincial government to enhance openness to foreign investment and cooperation, and warmly welcomed Austrian Companies to explore opportunities in Sichuan.
The Sichuan Provincial Bureau of Economic Cooperation also made a special presentation, showcasing the favourable business environment and opportunities in the province. Additionally, several Chinese and Austrian enterprises, including Yibin Wuliangye Co., Ltd. and ANDRITZ Hydropower Company, shared their experiences of successful trade and investment collaboration, emphasising the mutually beneficial outcomes that can arise from strong bilateral cooperation between the two countries.
