Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Federal Republic of Germany Pays an official Visit to Bayreuth
Ambassador Mwamweta Fosters Tanzanian–German Partnerships During Bayreuth Visit

His Excellency Hassani Iddi Mwamweta, Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania to the Federal Republic of Germany, paid an official visit to the City of Bayreuth, on December 23rd, 2025, to further strengthen bilateral cooperation and explore new avenues for collaboration.
Upon his arrival in Bayreuth, Ambassador Mwamweta was warmly received by the Mayor, Mr Thomas Ebersberger. Ambassador Mwamweta expressed his sincere appreciation to Interplast Germany e.V. for their remarkable contributions to Tanzania’s health sector, highlighting their ongoing medical missions and humanitarian support, which have had a meaningful and lasting impact on Tanzanian communities.
During the bilateral meeting, the two principals emphasized the importance of fostering partnerships between the City of Bayreuth and the United Republic of Tanzania in areas of mutual interest, including, inter alia, education, research, and development cooperation. As part of his visit, Ambassador Mwamweta also toured the University of Bayreuth, where he met with Professor Dr Stefan Leible, the University President, and senior members of his administration. The discussions focused on strengthening academic cooperation and research collaboration between Tanzanian institutions and the University of Bayreuth, including initiatives under the Excellence Cluster Africa Multiple.
The University of Bayreuth and the University of Dar es Salaam share a longstanding partnership of over 15 years through the Tanzania-Germany Centre for East African Legal Studies (TGCL). This flagship initiative continues to empower students and early-career researchers through joint training, capacity-building activities, and academic exchange programs, thereby reinforcing the educational and scholarly ties between Tanzania and Germany.
The Ambassador reaffirmed Tanzania’s commitment to strengthening cooperation with German partners in academia, research, and humanitarian initiatives, highlighting that such collaborations play a vital role in advancing shared objectives and fostering mutual understanding between the two nations.
