During a seminar held at the Vienna School of International Studies of the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna on May 7th, 2024, participants celebrated the 240th anniversary of Moroccan-Austrian diplomatic relations, highlighting them as a model for Euro-African partnerships.

The event, which also marked the launch of a book detailing the historical and diplomatic dynamics between the two nations, was attended by Moroccan Ambassador Azzeddine Farhane and other dignitaries.

Ambassador Farhane emphasized the deep historical ties and the ongoing efforts to strengthen bilateral relations across multiple sectors. The seminar underscored the mutual commitment to enhancing cooperation, especially in cultural exchanges, which have significantly grown, drawing an increasing number of Austrian tourists to Morocco.

The Hon. Ambassador Azzeddine Farhane was delighted to co-chair the launch of the book "International Seminar on Historical and Diplomatic Dimensions of the Relations between Morocco and Austria" with Ambassador Emil Brix, Director of the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna, and Ambassador Christoph Thun-Hohenstein of the Federal Ministry for European and International Affairs of the Austrian Foreign Ministry.

The book jointly presented shed light on two hundred- and forty-years years of diplomatic relations between Morocco and Austria. The book is an opportunity to go back in time, to better understand the dynamics of bilateral relations between the two countries and to further develop and deepen their shared historical heritage.

Ambassador Farhane declared that he concurred with Ambassador Emil Brix that they had ample reason to celebrate the deep-rooted friendship and explore the many dimensions of the relationship between the two great nations.
