The Embassy of Brazil in Berlin will host the exhibition Água Pantanal Fogo (“Water Pantanal Fire”), shedding light on the extraordinary natural and cultural heritage of the Pantanal - the largest continental wetland on the planet.

The vernissage takes place on Wednesday, September 3, 2025, at 19:00 (doors open at 18:45). Admission is free, with registration required. The exhibition will then be open to the public from September 16 to October 28, Monday to Friday, 10:00 to 17:00, with free admission and no registration needed.

Through the lens of two leading contemporary Brazilian photographers, Lalo de Almeida and Luciano Candisani, the exhibition offers both homage and warning: a celebration of the Pantanal’s vibrant flora and fauna, and at the same time a call for urgent action to protect its ecological integrity. Curated by Eder Chiodetto and organized by Documenta Pantanal (Mônica Guimarães and Teresa Bracher), Água Pantanal Fogo also resonates with Brazil’s broader efforts to safeguard this unique ecosystem.

For German and international audiences, the exhibition is both an invitation and a responsibility: to witness the Pantanal in all its abundance and fragility, and to engage in the global conversation on preserving life in its fullest expression.
