Agricultural Night 2025 and the Celebration of 200 Years of German Immigration to Argentina
Bilateral event highlighting innovation, sustainability, and shared agricultural goals
July 09th, 2025In celebration of the 200th anniversary of German immigration to Argentina, the German Embassy in Buenos Aires, in cooperation with the Konrad Adenauer Foundation (KAS), organized the “Noche de Agricultura 2025” (Agricultural Night 2025). This event brought together public officials, researchers, and representatives from both countries to explore new opportunities for bilateral cooperation in the agricultural sector.
The evening featured two high-level panel discussions focused on innovation, sustainability, and the future of agricultural trade. Key participants included Nicolás Bronzovich, President of the National Institute of Agricultural Technology (INTA); Jorge Gambale, Director of Agriculture at the Argentine Secretariat of Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries; and Edgard Ramírez, expert in agricultural innovation from the German-funded bilateral cooperation project “Argentine-German Dialogue on Sustainable Agricultural Innovations.”
In his welcome remarks, German Ambassador Dieter Lamlé recalled the 200-year history of migration and mutual development between Germany and Argentina. He emphasized the importance of the agricultural sector not only for the Argentine economy but also as a key area for deepening bilateral relations, especially in the face of global environmental and technological challenges.
The second panel, moderated by KAS Argentina Director Susanne Käss, featured public and private sector leaders including Guillermo Bernaudo, Minister of Economic Development of Entre Ríos Province; Santiago Bonifacio, Director of International Cooperation at the Secretariat of Agriculture; Gustavo Idígoras, President of CIARA-CEC; and Ricardo Fernández Pancelli from BASF Argentina.
The panelists debated the political and economic relevance of the EU-MERCOSUR Association Agreement for the agricultural sectors of both Argentina and Germany, emphasizing the need for renewed political momentum and mutual understanding to finalize the accord.
The event underlined the strategic importance of bilateral cooperation in agricultural research, food security, and climate-resilient innovation. It also demonstrated Germany’s commitment to advancing sustainable development goals abroad while fostering trust and dialogue with key Latin American partners.
By commemorating a historic milestone and promoting sectoral cooperation, Agricultural Night 2025 not only celebrated past achievements but also projected a shared vision for the future of German-Argentine relations.
