Afrika-Haus hosts Mali Evening supported by Benin Embassy
Musical night celebrates West African culture and regional diplomacy
July 02nd, 2025On July 8th, 2025, the Afrika-Haus Berlin will host a special evening titled “Mali-Abend mit Mouneissa”, a musical event dedicated to Malian traditional culture. The performance, starting at 19:30, will take place at Bochumer Straße 25, Berlin-Moabit, and is organized in collaboration with several African embassies — prominently, the Embassy of the Republic of Benin, a key cultural partner of the Afrika-Haus.
Mouneissa, a celebrated musician from Mali, will present an evening of traditional rhythms and oral storytelling rooted in West African heritage. The event offers Berlin audiences an opportunity to experience the diversity of Sahelian cultures through music, as part of a broader effort to promote regional identity and intercultural dialogue.
The Afrika-Haus, often supported by embassies such as those of Benin, Ghana and Burkina Faso, is a central platform in Berlin for African cultural diplomacy. The Beninese Embassy, in particular, actively contributes to its programming and regularly shares its cultural calendar through its official website, highlighting initiatives that strengthen African unity abroad.
This event forms part of an ongoing commitment to foster cross-cultural exchange and highlight the African diaspora’s contribution to Berlin’s cultural life. By hosting and promoting such events, the Embassy of Benin reinforces its diplomatic role beyond politics and economics, engaging with Berlin's local and international communities through cultural means.
