Tunisian Ambassador Meets Head of IOM Germany to Strengthen Migration Policies

On October 24, 2024, a diplomatic meeting took place at the headquarters of the International Organization for Migration in Berlin. Aiming to explore collaborative frameworks between Tunisia and the United Nations-affiliated IOM, this meeting focused on migration policies and mechanisms for regular migration and the voluntary return of migrants. Jean-Philippe Chauzy, Chief of the IOM Mission in Germany, and the Tunisian Ambassador Wacef Chiha discussed strategic goals for cooperation on migration.

Key topics of discussion included Tunisia’s ongoing initiatives to manage irregular migration flows and the need to strengthen international partnerships to create safer, regulated pathways for migration. Moreover, both parties evaluated the current support systems for voluntary return programs, highlighting areas for improvement to enhance efficacy and inclusivity for migrants.

By addressing the shared responsibilities of both countries, the discussions set a foundation for ongoing partnership and mutual support.
