The Dutch Embassy will be hosting Dutch author, Arnon Grunberg, for a reading of his new outstanding Kafkaesque novel, entitled “The Man Without Illness”.
Dutch Embassy Hosts Novel Reading
In cooperation with the Free University of Berlin and with support from the Dutch Foundation for Literature, the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands is hosting a reading of a new novel by Arnon Yasha Yves Grunberg entitled “The Man Without Illness”. The story is of a young Swiss architect flying to Iraq to design an opera house in Baghdad. The launch will take place at the Dutch Embassy in Berlin on December 10th at 19.30.
Arnon Grunberg, currently a visiting author at the Institute for German and Dutch Philology, will present his new novel, described as an outstanding Kafkaesque novel in which he takes the reader on a breathtaking journey. The Dutch Foundation for Literature writes that a novel by the greatest Dutch writer of his generation, is an analysis, both tragic and funny, of the times we live in, plot-driven but with philosophical asides – about justice, about humiliation, about a false sense of security and the excesses of modern architecture. The novelist takes his hero through a world he cannot comprehend. Het Parool, a Dutch newspaper, wrote: “This game with appearance and reality leads us to a shocking denouement.”
Who is Arnon Grunberg?

He also writes a daily column for the front page of the daily Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant. His work appears in 27 languages.
