A Conference on the History of Women’s Rights in Latin America

News from Berlin - On April 23rd the Embassy of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela will hold a conference on the History of Women’s Rights, in partnership with the Institute for Latin American Studies (LAI) at the Freie University in Berlin. The title of the conference is “La Mujer desde el punto de vista Histórico, su lucha por el derecho de género, igualdad de oportunidades y de justicia social” (“Women from a historical point of view, their struggle for equal rights, equal opportunity, and social justice”).

The speakers at the conference are Dr. Edda Samudio, a noted historian and researcher, and Rodrigo Oswaldo Chaves Samudio, the Ambassador for the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela in Germany.  Ambassador Samudio served as Vice-Minister for Health in Venezuela from 1999 to 2000, and was responsible for setting up 2,700 health centers around the country. He then became Ambassador to Italy, and Ambassador to Greece, before taking on his current role as Ambassador to Germany.
