News from Berlin – Wednesday, the 9th of July will see the opening of an authentic German-Chinese artistic collaboration organized by the Confucius Institute at the Freie Universität Berlin. The organizers have been inviting Chinese and German artists to reflect on topics related to contemporary Chinese art and create together in pairs. Thus, the exhibition of the joint art projects will be opened from Wednesday until the 23rd of October.

This is not, however, the first such scheme of the Chinese cultural institute. Last year’s exhibition under the name „Moments of encounter” provided a lively discussion on the development of contemporary art in China, the question of artistic identity and the influence of cultural roots on the visual representation. These are the topics among others that inspired the initiation of the current project and which will constitute the theme of the exhibition. Two artists are working on each project, one of them coming from German; the other coming from Chinese cultural background, to provide the audience with the visual representation of their chosen topic.

The exhibition will take place at the Freie Universität Berlin, Galerieraum 117/118. Visitors can enter free of charge.
