“Wars Don’t End”
A movie about the “German Children” in Norway

The Royal Norwegian Embassy to Germany invites you to a movie event and a panel discussion in the Nordic Embassies in Berlin on June 27.
“War is hell, but for the children of the occupier and the occupied, hell truly begins when peace comes”.
With an captivating narration, Liv Ullman leads the audience through the movie, “Wars Don’t End“ (2018). It’s the documentary of five so-called “German children.” It is the story of children, who were born during the terrors of the Second World War, in occupied Norway. With a Norwegian mother and a German father their real struggle will only start when the war is over. In a striking way, the movie shows how they had to pay for the crimes of their parents.
“Wars Don’t End” stresses valuable lessons from the past, and invites the audience to transmit them to the present and future. In the aftermath of the Second World War, thousands of children were born to German soldiers and mothers from occupied territories. Only 70 years later, the Norwegian war children start speaking up and share their difficult fate.
After the movie projection, an exciting panel discussion will take place. Among others, with the director Dheeraj Akolkar, the professor for International Politics and International Network for Interdisciplinary Research on Children of War, Ingvill C. Mochmann, and the human rights activist, Gerd Fleischer. In a relaxed atmosphere, the event will end with an open buffet.
The movie projection starts on June 27 at 2:00pm in the Fellehus, Rauchstraße 1, 10787 Berlin. The entrance is free, but guests are invited to register at thorleif.blatt@gmail.com.
