As you have already seen, Christmas is just around the corner, so it is the time of Christmas markets. Sunday December 7th we suggest you to attend to Christmas market which is away from the typical markets that you can find in places such as Alexanderplatz and Potsdamer platz: the Japanischer Weihnachtsmarkt.

From 12am to 21pm attendees will have the chance to enjoy not only a market of typical Japanese products, but also food, music and activities for kids. The aim of this market is to bring Japanese culture and traditions to Berlin, on special days like Christmas.

If you're looking for a unique and original Christmas gift, this is your opportunity. The organizors of this special market have scheduled several workshops during which people will be able to learn how to make toys and even how to prepare the best known dish of Japanese cuisine, sushi.

The event will be accompanied by Japanese DJs that will pick the hottest topics of the Japanese music panorama. There will be a Japanese eating competition and a sumo wrestling exhibition

Although Japanischer Weihnachtsmarkt has been adapted to Western Christmas celebrations style, in Japan Christmas is celebrated in a different way. In this Asian country, Christmas is more a time to spread happiness rather than a religious celebration, and they have their own Santa Claus, called Hoteiosho. Japanese usually eat fried chicken and the so-called christmas cake (a cake decorated with strawberries and cream) on Christmas Day.

The meeting with Japanese culture will take place on Sunday December 7th, from 12 am to 21 pm in Galerie Urban Spree in Berlin-Friedrichshain (Revaler Strasse 99).
