Reading as a Tool for Transcultural Exchange
A new book is to be presented by Johanna Holmström at the Finnish Institute in Berlin

In collaboration with the Embassy of Finland, the Finnish Institute in Berlin creates a platform for transcultural exchange by presenting the new book of the Finnish-Swedish author Johanna Holmström.
The Finnish Institute in Germany is regarded as the main forum for Finnish culture and arts, academia and business in Germany. Offering a wide range of cultural programs, the main objective of the Institute is to provide deeper insights into Finland’s culture and society.
As part of its upcoming cultural events, the Finnish Institute is going to present a new book published by the well-known author Johanna Holmström. Johanna Holmström, born in Sipoo in 1981, began her writing career in 2003. In 2009 she won the Svenska Dagbladet Literature Prize for her third short-story collection Camera Obscura, a connected series of stories focused on young eco-terrorists in Helsinki.
Her recent book titled ‘Die Frauen von Själö – Själarnas ö’ is to be presented at the Finnish Institute in Berlin. It was translated into German by Wibke Kuhn with the aim of enhancing Finnish-German relations. The reading event is taking place in Berlin on 19th March 2019. It is a great opportunity for the audience to engage in Finnish literature and culture.
