The Ambassador

Amb. Ramūnas Misiulis

H.E. Ambassador Ramūnas Misiulis represents the Republic of Lithuania as the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Federal Republic of Germany. Born on September 25, 1965, in Kaunas, Lithuania, Ambassador Misiulis has a robust academic background in both the sciences and political studies.

His educational journey in applied mathematics began at Vilnius University from 1983 to 1987 and continued at Lomonosov University in Moscow from 1987 to 1991. He later transitioned to the field of international relations, studying at the Institute of International Relations and Political Science at Vilnius University between 1992 and 1994.

Ambassador Misiulis' professional background is a testament to his extensive experience in foreign affairs. He has been serving as the Ambassador to Germany since his accreditation on June 21, 2021. Prior to this, from 2017 to 2021, he was an Ambassador Counselor at the Lithuanian Embassy in Ukraine, also acting as a political advisor to the OSCE Chairman's Special Envoy in Ukraine and the Trilateral Contact Group.

Between 2016 and 2017, he was the Head of the Eastern Partnership Unit at the Eastern Neighborhood Policy Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania. His earlier diplomatic appointments included roles as Ambassador Counselor at the Lithuanian Embassy in Germany (2012-2016), Head of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the Seimas of Lithuania (2010-2012), and Counselor at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (2009-2010).

His experience also spans the Austrian Embassy as a Counselor (2005-2009) and within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs E.U. Department (2002-2005). From 1999 to 2002, he served as the First Embassy Secretary in Germany, after working in the Political Department handling Western European Countries from 1997 to 1999.

Fluent in German, English, and Russian, Ambassador Misiulis possesses the linguistic capabilities crucial for international diplomacy.

Throughout his career, Ambassador Misiulis has demonstrated a commitment to representing Lithuania's interests abroad, specializing in E.U. integration, Eastern Partnership, and security policy within various European contexts.

The Lithuanian Embassy in Berlin is the headquarters of the diplomatic representation of Lithuania in Germany. The embassy building is located in the Charitéstraße 9 in the district center of Berlin Mitte district. Lithuania has Honorary Consulates in Dresden, Erfurt, Essen, Hamburg, Künzelsau, Offenbach am Main and Planegg. Until 1991, the Embassy of Lithuania was located in the Argelanderstraße 108a in the Bonn district Südstadt.
