On the 15th of July, a street hockey tournament took place with the purpose of helping to integrate refugees. The event is taking place at Tempelhofer Feld and is being organized by Canadian Ben Froese.

According to Froese the event is supposed to help integrate the refugees into German culture. The teams will be composed of people that come from many different backgrounds. This is supposed to help create a multicultural atmosphere and help refugees and Germans get to know each other.

The event will also have refugees making and sharing food from their countries of origin. Through this they can share their culture with the people from Germany. Food is a great way to share culture and to bring people together.

This initiative is a great example of individuals from different states coming together to share their cultures and to get to know each other better. The event uses sports, specifically Hockey which is incredibly popular in Canada, to unite people from different backgrounds and to teach them about each other’s cultures.

Sports can be used as a vehicle of cultural diplomacy. In this case, it is both used to unite people from different nations in a common goal and to show them how much they share, as well as used to show the specific sports that are popular in different states. Specifically, hockey which is popular in Canada. This helps people get to know different cultures and to learn new things about them through participation.
