The Embassy of the Slovak Republic in Berlin hosted a panel discussion on economic and political cooperation between the V4 states and Germany

The Slovak Embassy in Berlin hosted a panel discussion on “Visegrád Countries and Germany – New Avenues of Cooperation and Enhanced Consultation” with the participants from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Germany.

On June 3-4, 2019, the Slovak Embassy in Berlin participated in a panel discussion on the topic of "Visegrád Countries and Germany - New Avenues of Cooperation and Enhanced Consultation". The subject of the two-day forum was both current and future economic and political cooperation between the V4 countries and Germany.

The meeting was opened by the ambassador of the Slovak Republic in Berlin Peter Lizak. The event was attended by several important guests, such as Claudia Dörr-Voß, State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Economics and Energy, and František Ružička, State Secretary in the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs. The participants from Hungary, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland and Germany discussed political economy of Central Europe, common interests and key challenges of the Visegrád countries and Germany. Moreover, the panellists touched upon the issues of EP elections, Brexit, and future of the European Union.

Second day of the forum “Visegrád Countries and Germany – New Avenues of Cooperation and Enhanced Consultation” took place at the German Foreign Office, where the panellists discussed strategies on enhanced political cooperation between the V4 states and Germany, importance of the EU enlargement, and EU Common Foreign and Security Policy. The participants had an opportunity to meet State Minister for Europe Michael Roth and talk with members of the Parliamentary Friendship Groups Germany-Poland and Slovak Republic, Czech Republic, and Hungary in the German Bundestag.

The meeting once again confirmed good relations between the Visegrad states and Germany.
