Vietnam Delegation Visiting Leipzig

Promoting cooperation in trade, investment, education, culture and public administration

At the invitation of the Leipzig City Council, a delegation from Long An (Vietnam) under the direction of Mr. Pham Van Canh, member of the Central Committee of the Party and Chairman of the People's Committee, paid an official visit to Germany from June 26 to July 03, 2019.

On July 02, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed in the City Hall of Leipzig between Long An and Leipzig in the presence of Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu and Chairman Pham Van Canh. The Memorandum of Understanding involves promoting cooperation between the two sites in the areas of trade, investment, education, culture and public administration.

In his speech, Mr. Uwe Albrecht, Leipzig's Deputy Mayor for Economic Affairs and Labor, emphasized the city council's desire to strengthen cooperation with many provinces and cities in Vietnam.

Mr. Pham Van Canh thanked for the warm welcome, presented the potential of Long An Province, and expressed his hope for intensifying cooperation in the potential areas. He emphasized that the provincial government is providing the best possible support measures for the entrepreneurs from Leipzig and Germany.

Ambassador Nguyen Minh Vu highly appreciated the Leipzig City Council's great interest in cooperating with Vietnam and emphasized the complementary advantages of the two regions of Long An and Leipzig, especially in the areas of trade and vocational training. He also reaffirmed the Embassy's support for the effective implementation of the MOU, which makes a major contribution to the development of the strategic partnership between the two countries.

After the signing ceremony, an economic forum was held to promote investment with participants from more than 50 companies from both countries.

The program also included visits to Aone Deutschland AG, IAK Agar Consulting GmbH, KIROW Ardelt GmbH Leipzig, Viet-Duc Haus in Leipzig and several companies in the area of ​​renewable energy, waste and wastewater supply.
