News from Berlin - VENRO the German organization of non-governmental organizations is in cooperation with Forum Umwelt und Entwicklung hosting a dialogue forum on ‘New Impulses or Business as Usual?’- Civil Society Demands and Expectations in a New Global Sustainable Development Agenda for the Time after 2015’.

The year 2014 is of grave importance for the new global development of sustainable development goals that are to replace the 2015 millennium development goals. Numbers of global problems and crises in the last centuries are yet to be solved and new ones are constantly adding to the list. The countries of the global North as well as the global South together face the challenges of growing social inequality, growing ecological destruction, increasing resource consumption, the results of the financial, economic and food crises as well as an increasing climate change. This is why representatives of the German civil society have together developed ‘Eight Key Point in the new Global Sustainable Development Agenda for the Time after 2015’. These depict central goals and content in a new global agenda and are to be discussed at the dialogue forum amongst delegates of the German government and the opposition.

The dialogue forum takes place on June 26th at the permanent representation of Nordrhein-Westfalen in Hiroshimastraße 12-16, 10785 Berlin from 14:00 with 17:15 followed by a get-together.
