In June 2016, the mythical Vince Simplon Orient-Express made its journey from London to Berlin via Paris, respecting the old tradition of linking the main capitals.

On the 2nd of June, the train left London with passengers aboard for a 'journey through time' in art-deco carriages, leaving them immersed in a 1920s atmosphere. For the tiny sum of $2,210 per person, the train will take you back to Berlin's heydays when it was Europe's capital of cabaret and art. A four-course dinner served by French chefs will be served in the evening to the delight of the passengers.

The total journey takes two days including one night stay, which the passengers will spend in Paris after seeing the beautiful landscapes of Northern France. On the second day of the journey, the train takes the passengers to the lively Berlin where they will find gourmet restaurants, beautiful museums and a striking architecture.

The inaugural trip of the Orient Express is the sign of the new, or renewed, taste for luxury, slow travel and nostalgia' as the point of the journey is not to go somewhere but the way of going there. It also shows that Berlin is definitely the beating heart of Europe and a first-rate destination for tourism. The train remains in Berlin for two days before making it back to London with its passengers aboard.
