From the 27th to 28th of April 2020 the College of Health Sciences of Makerere University in Kampala will be hosting the first Health Summit Regional Meeting.

Uganda will be hosting an important Summit as the World Health Summit has bolstered the optimism of certain individuals who avidly work towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) of the UNO. This opportunity will stir up its participants to work harder for the achievement of these goals.

After his previous call to the Uganda Embassy in Berlin, the Professor of Makerere University, also the President of the WHS, paid a visit to the Embassy. He was congratulated for the opportunity which, as Prof. Ibingira stated, is a great way for Africa and Uganda to not only be in the limelight, but it will equally make other countries in the world to focus more on the challenges and successes of health sector in Africa. Moreover, this will lay new strategies for future collaborations.

The central themes of the Summit will focus on attaining the UN Sustainable Development Goals for 2030. Thus, the Health of the African Youth, advancing technology for Health in Africa, infectious diseases and global Health Security, stemming the tide of non-Communicable diseases in low- and middle-income Countries, and Inter-Sectoral action for Health will be the focus.
