Initiated by the Ministry of Economy and Finance, in partnership with the Ministry of Agriculture and Food, the Gastronomy Festival - Goût de France is a national and international event dedicated to gastronomy, its actors and its know-how. A general commissariat dedicated to the Festival accompanies each year the project holders and values their events.

This year represents a new stage for the Gastronomy Festival since its launch in 2011. The 8th edition marks a major turning point, but especially the beginning of new adventures. The French government announced last December its ambition to shine abroad the excellence of gastronomy and to show, abroad and in French regions, the quality of a healthy, seasonal, local of its environment , all this, through a plan of action named " Goût de France / Good France ". From 2018, la Fête de la Gastronomie is changing its name to " Goût de France ".

March 21st is the day of spring of course but it is especially the day where, for the 4th consecutive year, the French gastronomy will be put in the honor in the four corners of the world. Indeed, the 4th edition of the event " Goût de France / Good France," the largest French dinner in the world "will celebrate French cuisine, its excellence, its products and the values of pleasure and sharing that it conveys ... a great opportunity to make France shine in the world following the inscription in 2010 of the "gastronomic meal of the French" on the list of the intangible heritage of humanity.

The event was initiated in 2015 by Alain Ducasse and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. This concept is inspired by Auguste Escoffier's Epicure dinners, created in 1912: the same menu, the same day in several cities of the world. In 2018, no less than 3,000 chefs on 5 continents participate in the operation. On March 21, 2018, Goût de France / Good France, gathered 3,500 restaurants and 150 embassies on five continents to celebrate French gastronomy. During a dinner, chefs from around the world came together to celebrate the vitality of French cuisine, and federate around shared values: sharing and enjoyment in the respect of the planet and health. From haute cuisine to quality bistros, they offered a French-inspired menu in their restaurant and participated in this great festive event!

There is no imposed menu but a motto: put forward recipes inspired by French know-how and offer French champagnes and wines. As for the menu, it should be arranged in the following order: aperitif and canapés, starter, main course (s), cheese and dessert (s), and French wines and champagnes according to the menu. Finally, restaurant owners who take part in the adventure commit to donate 5% of the turnover to a local NGO working in the respect of health and the environment. All kinds of restaurants can participate, from the bistro to the gourmet restaurant to the brewery. In Germany there are 20 restaurants that play the game, from Berlin to Hamburg, via Frankfurt or Stuttgart or smaller cities.

In Berlin the restaurant Melt and Brasserie Lumière participate in the event. Melt has settled in the heart of Friedrichshain in Berlin 6 years ago now. In love with the good things, Melt offers every day to discover its cuisine both family and modern and offers them a culinary journey through its various specialties based on cakes, crepes and homemade pastries. Over time, Melt has made a name for itself among Berlin-quality establishments since in 2016 Melt received the Certificate of Excellence from Trip Advisor and its contributors. This year the restaurant Fleur de Sel also join the list.
