Amb. Simplice Honore Guibila
Between 1995 and 2000 Amb. Simplice Honore Guibila worked as the Second Counselor (Deputy Chief of Mission) at the Embassy of Burkina Faso to the United States of America. From 2000 to 2003 he was the Director of the Department of American Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Cooperation of Burkina Faso. Following this, between 2003 and 2008, he served as First Counselor (Deputy Chief of Mission) at the Embassy of Burkina Faso to Canada. Then from 2008 until 2011 he was appointed Director of Legal Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Cooperation of Burkina Faso.
Between 2011 and 2013 he was the Ambassador and Director General of Legal and Consular Affairs in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Regional Cooperation of Burkina Faso. Prior to his appointment as ambassador to Germany, Amb. Guibila worked as the Ambassador and Deputy Permanent Representative of Burkina Faso to the United Nations, New York.
Amb. Guibila speaks fluent French and English.
Burkina Faso and the Federal Republic of Germany have maintained diplomatic relations since 1960.
There are numerous areas in which both states continuously cooperate with each other in order to maintain diplomatic relations, in addition to numerous high profile visits between the two countries.
Since October 2009 the UN has implemented an Investment Protection Treaty between Germany and Burkina Faso. Burkina Faso enjoys import preferences under the Cotonou Agreement EU.
