Minister of Foreign Affairs of Tanzania Augustine Mahiga visited Finland on Monday 25 February and had a meeting with Minister for Foreign Affairs Timo Soini.

Tanzania is one of Finland's most long-term partners in development cooperation. Trade between the two countries is still modest but it is hoped to expand to include also commercial cooperation.

Cultural diplomacy topics were also discussed such as the Finnish vocational education system, the relations between the two countries and future cooperation between the two. Minister Mahiga also  visited the Vuosaari port, a seaport facility in Helsinki; and the Finnish Meteorological Institute, a government agency responsible for gathering and reporting weather data and forecasts in Finland.
