Information and Presentation event Organized by the Turkmenistan Embassy in Berlin

‘’25 years of independence of Turkmenistan’’ – Current Development and prospects

On the 27 of April 2016, Turkmenistan Embassy Representatives in Berlin organized information and presentation event, which touched on the subject of Turkmenistan’s 25 years of independence. The event was attended by representatives of German ministries and departments. Including the heads and members of diplomatic missions of foreign states accredited in Germany, representatives of major business associations of the ‘’Eastern Committee of German Economy’’ and ‘’East-European Association of the German Economy.’’ Representatives of the Germany Society for the Promotion of the Economy ‘’Germany Trade and Invest,” German companies, a numbers of universities, social and cultural organizations, the Turkmen Diaspora, as well as Turkmen Students Studying in higher educational institutions of Germany.

During the event, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan, H. E. Amb. T. Ataev, addressing the guests, spoke about ongoing reforms in various spheres of the country, measures to modernize and diversify the economy the have been carried out, the projects initiated and implemented on both national and international levels including in the areas of energy and transport infrastructures. The main presenter of the event, the German Foreign Minister Commissioner for Eastern Europe, South Caucasus and Central Asia, Andreas Peschke spoke on ‘’25 years to German-Turkmen relations’’. He outlined the main stages in the development of German-Turkmen relations, important points of bilateral cooperation in political, economic, humanitarian and other spheres, as well as prospects of cooperation between the two countries, including in the framework of international organizations.

Executive Director of the Eastern Committee of German Economy ‘’ Michael Harms spoke about German- Turkmenistan cooperation and described in details the potential and prospects of trade and economic relations between the countries. Moreover, Managing director of German-Turkmen forum Heinrich Schultz also mentioned in his speech about the social and cultural areas of bilateral cooperation.

In addition, The Embassy representatives as part of the presentation organized an exhibition of Turkmenistan arts, crafts, jewelry, carpets and printed products.
