News from Berlin - Figures from the Federal Statistics Office show that the number of commissions for German industry are up by 3.1 percent since last month. The figure had fallen in March by 2.8 percent which prompted concern from analysts over the economy.

Growth in the number of commissions received by German industry have largely been out of country, especially with countries bordering Germany. While percentage of commissions made within Germany remained level, commissions with other countries has risen by 5.5 percent. Commissions made with EU partner countries rose by an astounding 9.9 percent. The 7.1 percent rise in consumer goods in particular accounted for the rise in industry, followed by a rise in capital goods, machinery and vehicles for example, rose by 4.4 percent.

The numbers show that that doubts about economic recovery are misplaced. There has been a strong comeback since the slump in March. Experts say that the data suggests continued economic growth in Germany, provided that the strong momentum of the past two months does not wane.
