News from Berlin - From July 3rd to July 8th, the Gendarmenmarkt, a stunningly beautiful square in Berlin that is home to the Konzerthaus and French and German Cathedrals, will be flooded with music enthusiasts as it is transformed into a Classic Open Air concert for the 23rd time since the event’s inception in 1992.

Kicking off on a Thursday with the German Film Orchestra Babelsberg playing hits from classic movies, the first night will end with dazzling fireworks display lighting up the night sky. Other highlights of the six-day show include the twenty-strong all-female lineup on Friday’s “Classic Ladies” Night; Saturday’s Mozart-Haydn-Beethoven repertoire accompanied by light and fire displays; Sunday’s Bella Italia, featuring music from Italy as well as that by foreign composers styled after their Italian counterparts’ serenades; and Monday’s German formation ‘Unheilig’ (Unholy), promising its listeners with ‘an emotional roller coaster ride’ with its famed musical versatility and range of styles. The concert will finish at 22:30 on Tuesday July 8th, with the legendary Schiller closing the six-day event with the blend of classical and electronic sounds from his latest album Opus.
