News from Berlin – Between June 20th and July 20th, the 52nd Franco-German folk festival will take place in Berlin. This year’s theme is ‘… and all of Berlin dreams of love’. The festival takes place in a replicate French village, where you can enjoy the day strolling through traditional French streets.

 

Of course, French culinary specialities will be on offer, such as cheese, baguettes, quiche and crêpes. But also other food such as snails and frogs’ legs will also be available for the more adventurous visitors. And what would a French festival be without French wine? Wine, champagne, Pernod and French beer will also be available to enjoy to celebrate the shared passion for alcohol. There will also be live music, with performances from French bands throughout the day. All the while, thrill seekers can enjoy with fairground attractions such the ferris wheel,  a log flume and even the ‘Eclipse’; a 50 metre high speed carousel . The event will climax with a firework displays on Saturday (21.06., 05.07., 19.07.) and on Monday, July 14th for the French National day, commemorating the Storming of the Bastille in 1789.

The festival is open from Monday to Saturday from 2 p.m., and from 1 p.m. on Sundays.

The entry fee is of 2 euros for adults and is free for children under 14 years old. It is located at Kurt-Schumacher-Damm 207, 13405 Berlin, near Tegel airport, accessible by bus 128 or M21.
